Understanding Ketamine
Ketamine is a safe and legally administered medication proven effective in addressing mental health conditions such as treatment resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD. While its rapid-acting antidepressant effects can manifest within 1-2 hours post-treatment, the relief typically extends for up to 2 weeks. Ketamine's mechanism involves inhibiting NMDA receptors and stimulating AMPA receptors, which can lead to the development of new neural connections, ultimately promoting lasting neuroplasticity for positive change.
What to Expect During the Ketamine Experience
Ketamine initiates an altered state of consciousness that lasts about 45 minutes. The effects are often described as feelings of expansiveness and meaningful , often profound shifts in perspective. It's important to note that motor and verbal abilities may be reduced during this time. You will be comfortably reclined and your safety and comfort are priority throughout the experience. After the effects subside, we will engage in discussions about the insights gained. Keep in mind that while it may be challenging to articulate the experience, the benefits to mood and neurological growth can extend for up to two weeks afterward.
