Part 2: Exploring the Depths of Self: An Introduction to Depth Psychology

Delving into the Depths: Uncovering the Soul's Perspective

Depth Psychology is a transformative approach that invites us to explore the hidden layers of our being, going beyond the surface of our personalities and cultural conditioning. It recognizes that there is more to our existence than meets the eye and embraces the arts, literature, wisdom schools, and mythology as gateways to understanding the deeper meaning of our lives and relationships. Join us on a journey of self-discovery as we dive into the depths of Depth Psychology and uncover the wisdom it holds.

Journal Prompts:

1.   Reflect on your own experiences and beliefs about the soul. How do you understand and define the concept of the soul? Explore how your perspective on the soul influences your understanding of yourself and your place in the world.

2.   Consider a symptom or challenge you have experienced in your life. How might you view this symptom or challenge through the lens of Depth Psychology? Reflect on the potential messages or insights that this symptom may hold for you, signaling a need for your exterior life to come into alignment with your soul or authentic self. Your own unique point of view.

3.   Explore the idea of hidden gifts and talents within yourself. What are some aspects of your true nature that you feel are waiting to be discovered or fully expressed? Reflect on how you can begin to identify, integrate, and manifest these hidden gifts and talents in your daily life, career, and relationships.

Expressive Arts Activity: Soul Collage

Materials needed: magazines, scissors, glue, large index cards or cardboard

Create a series of soul collages that represent different aspects of your true nature and soul. Flip through magazines and cut out images, words, and symbols that resonate with you and reflect different dimensions of your being. Arrange and glue these elements onto the index cards or cardboard, creating individual collages that capture the essence of your soul's perspective. Reflect on the emotions and insights that arise as you engage in this creative process, and keep these soul collages as tangible reminders of your journey into the depths of self.
